There’s no such thing as a Gruffalo!

This week we have been reading The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson.

The children enjoyed listening to the story and watching it on TV. We also learnt the Gruffalo song.

One of the children brought in their Gruffalo cuddly toys which we used to tell the story too.

We made Gruffalo crumble in small groups using chocolate and crushed biscuits and added toppings to represent parts of the Gruffalo -

* dried apricots for his orange eyes

* dried prunes for his black tongue

* mini marshmallows for his terrible teeth

* Purple cake sprinkles for his purple prickles

* a green sugar ball for his poisonous wart

The children crushed the biscuits

Stirred in the melted chocolate

Then carefully cut up the apricots and prunes

The children also enjoyed making paper bag Gruffalo puppets.
