Parent Questionnaire

Detailed below are the results of the 2021 Parent Questionnaire.

There were 28 responses from a child count of 38, 74% of overall head count.  The results are very positive with 86% of respondents rating Sparklers overall as Excellent and the remaining 14% rating us as Very Good.

Parents should aim to add at least one observation into the App each week.  This enables the staff to connect home learning with classroom learning.

Staff inform me about my child's development and progress through the app?

Whilst primarily positive, this result is a little disappointing because the lower ratings are from parents that do not use the App.

This result is therefore skewed against Sparklers because whilst the classroom observations are entered daily the parents are not seeing them.

Sparklers Pre-School is well led and managed?

Sparklers Pre-School is volunteer managed and ALL parents are encouraged to take part in either classroom activities or by joining the committee.

Only 47% of parents would be willing to help with classroom activities and only 16% of parents are willing to join the committee.

Sparklers Pre-School is at risk of closure if there are not enough volunteers to form a Management Committee.

My child enjoys the new snack timetable that is provided by Sparklers?

The new snack timetable is designed to encourage children to sample fresh natural produce.  We will not provide processed products for snack time.

If you have any suggestions for snacks please engage with your key-worker.

52% of parents have joined our private Facebook group.

48% of parents follow our public Facebook page.

Regular updates are posted in the Sparklers-Pre-School private Facebook group as well as via the App News.

I have visited the new website?

Our website is now a really important tool for all information about Sparklers Pre-School.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic hit we have digitised everything that used to be displayed in the cloakroom so it is important that all parents review the website.

The App and Website have had a huge positive impact on the  communication with parents, it is unlikely that we'll ever return to paper format.

  • You all are doing a great job u all handling children is really appreciate.

  • At this stage I haven't scored max stars as my child just joined the Sparklers and I'm learning about their routines, way of communications, activities etc.

  • xxxxxx has been really enjoying the time at Sparklers and he always gets up in the morning no matter how tired he is once we tell him it’s time to get up and go to school :) We are happy with the education he’s receiving from the preschool and wish we could attend more if we were offered more time available. Thank you all very much.

  • xxxxxx loves coming to pre school which is so important and he is starting to talk a bit more about the friends he is making. Due to Covid restrictions, it has been difficult to catch up with his key worker but I am sure if you had any concerns you would let me know-no news is good news! The new App is brilliant and it is really useful to see which of the early learning goals xxxxxx has been working on. I just want to say a big thank you for all of the changes that have been put in place over the last term- xxxxxx comes home every week with new knowledge and it is clear to see from the ‘golden moments’ that he is having lots of fun alongside his learning.

  • I am happy with school management.

  • I feel that as a parent I would of loved to have met with the staff face to face but I know that hasn’t been able to happen due to the pandemic! I think at times they are little strict with certain behaviour considering my son is only 3 he is finding his way in the world & has a lot to learn still. Also the pandemic hasn’t helped i feel the pre school could support his emotions better at times to understand why he has behaved the way he has at times.

  • I think you all do a fantastic job in a very demanding environment and I’m grateful for your time and patience given to xxxxxx so thank you and keep up the great work.

  • Just would like to say thankyou for doing a great job, xxxxxx loves coming to sparklers and have made such a lovely bond with her keywork.

Are there any comments you would like to make about Sparklers Pre-School?

  • Continue to do lots of outdoor learning!

  • Hope for some trip with kids soon ;)

  • xxxxxx would love sparklers to have play doh

  • Maybe an outing now that things are opening, maybe sports day and a picnic with parents, fun day/morning with parents.

  • A bit more help/involvement when allergies are present.

  • More communication about my child's day at the end of the session.

  • Can’t think of anything, all seem to work well. Well done to all staff.

  • Face to face meetings when you start & over the phone updates.

  • Not much as i know but taking kids out more often will help them a lot.

  • Now things are opening maybe an outing for the children
