This week we have been having lots of fun with Julia Donaldson’s story - The Snail and the Whale.
We listened to the story and looked on the globe to find the places that the whale had travelled on his adventure.
Then everyone decorated a pebble to look like a snail shell. The children had to practise drawing a twirl shape.
The children also created scenes using collage pieces to show where the snail and the whale might be. We had volcanoes, beaches and icy lands just like in the story.
The children had fun racing the wind up snails on the tuff tray….
… but soon found out that snails don’t move that fast when we found some in the nature area and spent time observing them.
We explored other creatures that live in the ocean in our water tray during the week. We all love a bit of water play
We finished the week using loose parts to create snail shell patterns. They were so pretty.
